Bockeltz built this watch in The Hague around 1605, fitting an astronomical dial, a sundial, and a striking mechanism into a gilded brass case smaller than a closed fist. The object was designed to track solar and lunar positions simultaneously, a concentration of function that most contemporary clockmakers spread across separate instruments.

The movement's partly blued steel components indicate a maker confident enough to leave decorative finishing on parts only a future repairer would see. The original is held at @metmuseum in New York. MUGGMUSEET curatorial staff have preserved the work in ceramic form, where the astronomical dial remains legible at a somewhat reduced scale.
